Why do you think relations between presidents and the press deteriorated during the Vietnam War?

Answers

Answer 1

On april 30, 1975, when the last helicopter lifted off the roof of the U.S. Embassy in Saigon, the Vietnam War, the most consequential event in American history since World War II, ended in failure. More than 58,000 Americans and as many as 3 million Vietnamese had died in the conflict. America’s illusions of invincibility had been shattered, its moral confidence shaken. The war undermined the country’s faith in its most respected institutions, particularly the military and the presidency. The military eventually recovered. The presidency never has.

It did not happen all at once, this radical diminution of trust. Over more than a decade, the accumulated weight of critical reporting about the war, the publication of the Pentagon Papers in 1971, and the declassification of military and intelligence reports tarnished the office. Nor did the process stop when that last chopper took off. New evidence of hypocrisy has continued to appear, an acidic drip, drip, drip on the image of the presidency. The three men who are most responsible for the war, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Richard Nixon, each made the fateful decision to record their deliberations about it. The tapes they left behind—some of them still newly public, others long obscured by the sheer volume of the material—are extraordinary. They expose the presidents’ secret motives and fears, at once humanizing the men and deepening the disillusionment with the office they held.

Which is an accurate rewording of President Lincoln’s inaugural promise to the seceded states?

A. I will command the military to attack immediately to force you back into the Union.

B. I will resign as President if you will return to the Union.

C. I will not attack you and don’t intend to interfere in slavery in your states.

D. I will insist upon the end of slavery in your states.

Answers

Answer:

Hello There. the Correct answer is C. I will not attack you and don't intend to interfere in slavery in your states.

Explanation: Because LincoIn's “I have always hated slavery,” Lincoln said. But slavery was deeply rooted in the

Constitution. He had understood that it could not be uprooted overnight.

Lincoln had won the presidency in 1860 vowing to stop slavery from spreading. Free

territories would one day ripen into free states, and slavery would be surrounded. With

its roots choked off, slavery would eventually die out.

For much of his first year, Lincoln had focused on ending the Southern rebellion.

Somehow, he had to address the root cause. The Constitution offered little help. It had

left slavery in the hands of individual states.

But the war opened up new possibilities. Lincoln believed the Constitution allowed the

President to do in wartime what he could never do in times of peace. Hope It Helps! .ω.ItsNobody

Trillions of U.S. dollars are going to poor countries. Why doesn’t it help individual people? Where’s the money going? ( These are old questions )

Answers

Answer:hope it helps

Explanation: These days, they give more than $125bn (£102bn) in aid each year – solid evidence of their benevolent goodwill.

This story is so widely propagated by the aid industry and the governments of the rich world that we have come to take it for granted. But it may not be as simple as it appears.

The US-based Global Financial Integrity (GFI) and the Centre for Applied Research at the Norwegian School of Economics recently published some fascinating data. They tallied up all of the financial resources that get transferred between rich countries and poor countries each year: not just aid, foreign investment and trade flows (as previous studies have done) but also non-financial transfers such as debt cancellation, unrequited transfers like workers’ remittances, and unrecorded capital flight (more of this later). As far as I am aware, it is the most comprehensive assessment of resource transfers ever undertaken.

Separate How have laws and politics discriminated against people?

Answers

Answer:

Jim Crow Laws

Explanation:

Jim Crow laws were state and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States. All were enacted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by white Democratic-dominated state legislatures to disenfranchise and remove political and economic gains made by blacks during the Reconstruction period. The Jim Crow laws were enforced until 1965. In practice, Jim Crow laws mandated racial segregation in all public facilities in the states of the former Confederate States of America and other states, starting in the 1870s and 1880s. Jim Crow laws were upheld in 1896 in the case of Plessy vs. Ferguson, in which the U.S. Supreme Court laid out its "separate but equal" legal doctrine for facilities for African Americans. Moreover, public education had essentially been segregated since its establishment in most of the South after the Civil War

Answer:

In many countries, laws result in people being treated differently, excluded from

essential services or being subject to undue restrictions on how they live their lives,

simply because of who they are. Such laws are discriminatory they deny human rights and

fundamental freedoms.

People may experience more than one form of discrimination. A person may experience

discrimination because of his or her health status and because of his or her race, gender

identity or sexual orientation, compounding the effects on the individual and the wider

community.

Laws such as laws on sex work, same sex sexual relations, the use or possession of

drugs for personal use and the non disclosure, exposure or transmission of HIV may

discriminate by criminalizing conduct or identity.

Other laws may prevent people from accessing benefits or services. Girls may not be

allowed to go to school if they are pregnant or women may not be able to access financial

services without their husband’s permission. Laws may also impose parental consent for

adolescents to access health services or restrict the entry, stay and residence of people

living with HIV.
