The setting of the story is a fox farm in the countryside. The narrator's father raises silver foxes in pens on the farm and then kills them, skins them, and sells their pelts.

Why do some readers find Shakespeare’s writing difficult to understand? Explain.
How do you feel about Shakespeare’s language? Why?

Answers

Answer:

1. Shakespeare uses a huge vocabulary, far larger than anyone else including the audiences who saw his plays for the first time in the 16th and 17th centuries. There are inevitably going to be lots of words the reader does not know.

2. Some of the words and phrases he uses are slang or otherwise outdated. Sometimes the words have secondary slang meanings that might go over the reader's head.

3. Shakespeare's sentences are sometimes long, very long, and require a lot of concentration to follow through to the end.

4. Shakespeare wrote a lot of his dialogue in poetry. To many people the idea of people talking in poetry is just weird, but it has the advantage of making what people say much more beautiful, powerful and compelling. Some of the side effects are that the lines are in verse, which gives them a characteristic rhythm (easier to memorize), sometimes results in verbs at the end of a sentence being placed, and involves a lot of similes, metaphors, personifications and all that other poetry stuff. You might find "What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun" harder to understand than "Hey, isn't that Juliet in that window?" but it is much more beautiful.

5. Shakespeare wrote plays. He meant them to be watched, not read. Unless you are practised in reading scripts, it is very very hard to imagine how the play will look when it is being acted just by reading it. This is, I think, the fact which, more than anything else, makes Shakespeare's plays difficult for people. Often they are the first plays students have read, and they have no clue how to understand what is happening.

Explanation:

Some readers find Shakespeare’s writing difficult to understand because he uses a large vocabulary.

It should be noted that Shakespeare usually users large vocabularies. This made it difficult for some readers to understand his literary works.

Also, some of the words and phrases that he uses are outdated and his sentences are usually long and require a lot of concentration. This made it difficult for some people to understand him.

What is the purpose of literary analysis?

to suggest and support an interpretation of literature
to summarize a work of literature in great detail
to evaluate how well a work of literature is written
to suggest how a work of literature should be revised

Answers

Answer:

to suggest and support an interpretation of literature

Explanation:

to suggest and support an interpretation of literaturethis is the correct answer. The literal analysis is careful reading and interpretation of the written piece. The analysis should examine carefully characters, settings, atmosphere, imagery, and plot. The full and scientific analysis should explore the meaning and the ideas behind the written piece, and use the literary theory that fits the work.

to summarize a work of literature in great detail – this is not the correct answer. Literary analysis is not just a summary of the piece.

to evaluate how well a work of literature is written – this is not the right answer. The analysis doesn’t grade up the quality of the piece.

to suggest how a work of literature should be revised – this is not the correct answer. Review or edit are the ones that suggest the revisions.

What came out of the door, the lady or the tiger? Create a resolution to Stockton’s story, since he deliberately left out that element of story structure. In an essay of 300 words or more, answer the question that comprises the last sentence of this short story, drawing upon your understanding of the story’s structure, the princess’s complex character, and of human nature in general. Does the structure of the story suggest one outcome more than the other? Be sure to note how Stockton’s use of language, particularly figurative language, helped to develop your understanding of the princess’s character and the society in which she lives. Use textual evidence to support your views.

Answers

Answer:

this should help

Explanation:

The author of "The Lady or the Tiger?" never reveals what is behind the door. The princess indicates that her lover should choose the door on the right, however, we know that the princess—like her father—has a “barbaric” streak. Furthermore, we know that she hates the lady behind the door and is sick at the thought of her lover being married to her. Ultimately, it is left up to the reader to decide what they think emerged from the door—a lady or a tiger?Stockton, the author of the work, deliberately did not give us the "right" answer to this question.  Given that, we can guess and surmise and speculate; however, the answer is still, ultimately, a matter of opinion.Think about this people. The story explains about her barbaric nature like her father’s. We are also told that her lover “knows” her true nature. If these things are true, the princess would have directed him to the door with the tiger, but her lover would have known that. Consequently, he would have chosen the door she did not indicate, and he and the beautiful girl would live happily ever after. With all due respect, I think #3 needs to look at the quoted section of text more closely. " How in her grievous reveries had she gnashed her teeth, and torn her hair, when she saw his start of rapturous delight as he opened the door of the lady!" The princess did not want him to find happiness with anyone else. She had a barbaric nature, and she knew that the beautiful young woman had cast glances upon her lover, and she had perceived those glances to be returned. This would not been taken lightly, and it is safe to say it would probably not be forgiven. In addition, let us not forget the "savage blood" that coursed through her and the "barbaric" ancestry she came from, and the fact that she hated the woman behind the door. It would seem that due to her barbaric nature she would have not wanted her lover to find happiness with another woman, and so we could assume she guided him to the door with the tiger.

Now with all that being said, we are told also that her lover ". . . understood her nature. . .", so if that is true then perhaps he would know she might not want any other woman to have him, and he would choose the door opposite the one she directed him to. So if the lady came out, perhaps it was because he outwitted his barabic lover.

According to the given details from the The Lady or the Tiger by Frank Stockton, we can see that there is a relationship between the princess with a mean streak, her lover and the lady behind the door.

As a result of this, we see the events which occured between the savagely jealous princess and her lover when he was confused on the door to enter.

One of the doors contained a lovely lady which the princess did not like and was jealous of, the other contained a tiger, and the princess knew the content of both doors.

Therefore, we can come to the conclusion that the princess would most likely direct her lover to the door that contained the tiger because she was jealous and had a mean streak where she did not want to share.

What do you mean by Lottery?

People buy numbered tickets for a gambling game called a lottery.

The story, which was first published in the New Yorker in 1948 and then collected in The Lottery and Other Stories, is about a community where a lottery is conducted every year. The destiny of the individual who draws the "winning" slip, however, is not made clear until the story's shocking conclusion.

The power of ritual and tradition is the fundamental theme of "The Lottery." Even though the lottery's original purpose has long since been forgotten, the custom is nevertheless carried out each year. The lottery has been held for so long that only rumours exist regarding its intended use.

Therefore, Option (D) is correct.
