The building stands at 1,046 feet (319 meters) tall and held the title of the world's tallest building for 11 months before it was surpassed by the Empire State Building.
The building is renowned for its distinctive Art Deco style and features a number of unique design elements, including a series of stainless steel arches at the top of the building. The small apartment at the top of the building was originally intended as a residence for Walter P. Chrysler, the building's namesake and founder of the Chrysler Corporation.
However, Chrysler never used the apartment and it was eventually used as a storage space. Today, the apartment is occasionally opened for private events and tours.
