Read the document "Brown University: Protests and Demonstration Guidelines," Why is obstructing the exchange of ideas or the movement of people during protests prohibited by these guidelines?

Answers

Answer:

Such obstructions are a form of censorship that also interfere with the right of others.

Explanation:

The policy guiding protests and demonstrations in Brown University mentioned that protests were accepted as a form of expression in the community. However, when this protest prevents others from expressing themselves, that would be a trampling of their rights and this is frowned upon by the University.

So, in a bid to express themselves, others should not be censored, that is, prevented from airing their own views. Interruptions of the speech of others were also viewed as an obstruction of their freedom of expression.

Read the following passage:

At the turn of the 20th century, German math teacher Wilhelm von Osten was trying to prove the intelligence of animals. He tried to teach a cat and a bear how to add, but couldn’t do it. After years of training, he found a horse named Hans who could add, subtract, multiply and read German.
What clue is given that might make you find this suspicious?

He had not found another animal who could do this before.
Horses can’t add.
He was a math teacher, not an animal trainer.
It was only the 20th century, so animals weren’t that skilled yet.

Answers

Answer:

It would more than likely be horses can’t add because how would they write it down ? It says he found a horse than knew all of this after years of training

When writing a story, do you italicize the names of brands such as Disney+?

Answers

Answer:

Nope

Explanation:

You need to capitalize it, and you can't go wrong with adding them into the resources viewed section, but they do not need to be capitalized. Some people do capitalize, but that is optional, as you will notice that people do not italicize it often (or more often) than it is italicized.

Which of the following selections best summarizes a key element of the poem "Parsley"?

A. A blight has devastated the year’s cane sugar crop.

B. The parrot is a figment of the general’s imagination.

C. The general’s mother took her own life mainly out of shame for what her son had done.

D. The general will execute anyone who does not pronounce a word in a certain way.

Answers

Answer:

D. The general will execute anyone who does not pronounce a word in a certain way.

Explanation:

Anyone who couldn't pronounce the "r" in "perejil" (Spanish for parsley) like a native Dominican Speaker will be put to death by the general.

It is not A because though the poem makes a number of references to cane harvesting, there isn't evidence to support this answer.

It is not B because while the general's sanity could be called into question based on a reading of this poem, there isn't evidence in the text that indicates the parrot is not real.

It is not C because there is no evidence to support this answer.

Hope this isn't confusing and hope this is helpful :)

descriptive writing about a day at the ocean

Answers

Answer:

Here's one. Hope it helps.

Explanation:

The waves were indeed gentle today, slowly ebbing towards the shore and nipping at my feet, sending some of its contents in the form of crabs, seashells and seaweed. But I hadn't a single care in the world.

I wiggled my toes, letting them dig further into the sand and create a calming room of sand, cool from the water and warmth from the temporary depth. Today was supposed to be a good day, I wasn't even supposed to be at the beach. Truth is I wasn't a huge fan of water. I drowned when I was sick and never got over the trauma.

But I didn't really have a choice, I remembered as I looked beside me to confirm the presence of Lionel, my long lost brother. He was only two years younger than I was, and he went missing over a year ago. I was only driving past when my eyes were drawn to his lonely figure among the crest of the waves.

So here I was, not even having the courage to utter a single word in fear that he was only a mirage, that he would dissipate as soon as I made a sound.

And even if I did make a sound, what would it be? Would I just ask him where he was? Would I yell? Hug him? Kiss him?

He didn't seem in a position to answer me anyway with his dark, sunken eyes and bony, wispy fingers that clutched the loose sand in a death grip.

Without a single form of warning, he unleashed a deathly scream...

Answers

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Unfortunately, there is no question here. Just a series of sentences.

What is your question? What do you want to know?

However, trying to help you we can comment on the following.

The tropical rainforest indeed is one of the oldest ecosystems. It is one of the most diverse ecosystems. Half the plant and animal species on Earth live there. This includes many that haven't been discovered yet.

If there is one place on planet Earth with such richness in diversity, is precisely in the tropical rainforest. Scientists believe that in the rainforest live 55% of animals, plants, trees, and vegetation that exist on our planet.

These scientists and researchers affirm that of the 250,000 species of plants that have been discovered on Earth, approximately 170,000 can be found in the rainforest.

So people should ask their governments to take extra care to protect the environment, especially the tropical rainforests that are avital part of the sentient beings that live on planet Earth.

What is are the most notable things about early settler literature?

Answers

Answer:

The difficulties of establishing in the new environment, the relationship with the natives, religiosity and colonialism are the most notable subjects in the literature of the first colonizers.

Explanation:

Literature is strongly influenced by the historical moment in which it is being established. This includes the literature written by the first colonized in North America, since through their texts, we can perceive a strong religiosity, mainly in relation to Puritanism, as a way to withstand the physical difficulties that the American environment presented to the pioneers. In addition, this literature presents the pillars of colonialism and the controversial relationship between Europeans and Native Americans.

creative (ish) writing piece. I wrote it. please read and give feedback. for my ap lit
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Imagine he leaves, so every day during the summer you go to the skate park and spend hours there just sitting at a table, journaling. You go every single day. The boys skating look at you weirdly because they don't know what you're doing.
You sit there alone, and sad. Just thinking about him. Making up scenarios of him coming back home all the time.
You start to draw your view of the skate park.
You add on each day. Sometimes you even cry, silently. Other times you stop writing to just watch the world.
Every now and then one of the boys walks up and tries to talk to you. You give brief and dry responses, not really wanting to talk to his former friends.
One day you go again and you're writing, but there is a different feeling.
Something just isn't quite the same.
You see a white pickup truck pull up and your heart feels like it just stopped beating, your stomach flips as you sit and stare.
Disbelief in your eyes, your jaw drops a little.
It's him.
You see him look at you from the driver seat and watch as he pulls into a parking space.
He gets out and the boys that had been skating, start to walk up to him.
But he's already seen you. Some of the boys have told him you go there a lot, so he knew where to find you.
He ignores the boys badgering him. He tells them to give him a minute.
He's on a direct path to you.
But all you can do is stare.
When he is ten feet away you realize what is happening.
You stand up and face him as he closes the gap in two long strides.
He pulls you into the tightest hug you have ever felt. This hug is different from the ones before, it's more urgent.
Like he needed this more than anything.
You slowly wrap your arms around him and you can feel him pressing his head against the top of yours.
You've missed him so much but you're still in shock. You feel like crying. This is all you have wanted for months and he's finally here.
Then you remember why you hadn't texted him, hadn't called him, or even sent him a letter. You pull away from the hug abruptly and you go to grab your things from the table at your back. Not saying a word.
He knows you too well, he knows something is wrong. What he doesn't know is that you can't explain it, not even to yourself.
So he just says "I missed you so much."
"I know," you say quietly.
"What's wrong?" he asks.
"Nothing", you say, not looking at him.
"No, tell me," he says while reaching out to you.
"It's just been a while," you say avoiding his gaze.
"Yeah, haha, it has," he knows you're not saying what you mean, but he knows better than to push.
You turn to face him, tears in your eyes. He crouches down and picks you up, wrapping your legs around his waist for all to see.
You hold on to his neck for dear life as you choke back tears.
He feels the same in your arms, he smells the same. You want to smile and cry at the same time. You bury your head into his shoulder and neck, the soft spot you found in the street outside of your house so many months before.
He holds you tighter against him and you can feel his heart beating in sync with yours.
"I love you," he says softly.
"I love you too", you say, barely a whisper. You want to stay there forever.

Read this excerpt from "A Student's Guide to Global
Climate Change."
Based on the excerpt, what conclusion can be drawn
about protective barriers?
Climate change poses risks for cities near the ocean.
Places like Miami; New York City, New Orleans; and
Venice, Italy, could flood more often or more severely if
sea level continues to rise. If that happens, many people
will lose their homes and businesses,
They should be built along coastal communities.
O They should be built where natural barriers are
missing.
O They are the same as natural barriers.
They are usually unnecessary along shorelines.
What can people do about it?
Coastal cities can prepare for climate change by
protecting or restoring natural shoreline buffers like sand
dunes and wetlands, improving storm drainage systems,
and building protective barriers where necessary.
