Explain why a person with a leaking heart valve has difficulty exercising

Answers

Answer:

A leaky heart valve might go unnoticed. Or it could cause health problems that could be either minor or serious. How serious a leaky heart valve is depends on how much it interferes with normal blood flow through the heart. Treatments include medicines, surgical repair, or surgical replacement of the leaky valve. Observation over time for changes is the most common approach to a leaky heart valve.

Which scenario causes gene flow?

A:one flower pollinates other flowers in its population
B: a population size decreases after a natural disaster
C: new mutations arise within new populations
D: an animal moves to a new population and mates

Answers

Answer:

D: an animal moves to a new population and mates

Explanation:

Gene flow, also known as gene migration, is the transfer of genetic material (DNA) from the population of a species to another population of the same species. Gene flow can be caused by migration of one member of a particular population that interbreeds in another population or due to aided transfer of gametes from one population to another, as in the case of cross-pollination.

Based on the above definition, an animal moving from its own population to a new population and mates there represents a scenario that causes gene flow.

In the first option, one flower of a population is pollinating another flower in the same population. This doesn't show gene flow because there is no transfer of genes (present in gametes) to a different population.

Little Jimmy drank 4 different energy drinks and water. After each drink he timed himself running the 50 yard dash. The water in this experiment is * -the independent variable -the dependent variable -a control -the hypothesis

Answers

Answer:

Water is a control

Explanation:

From the question, the independent variable is energy drink and the dependent variable is running 50 yard of ash.

An independent variable is a variable that can stand alone in an experiment.

Dependent variable is a variable that is beeping altered, tested and measured and it's dependent on the independent variable.

The running of 50 yard Yash depend on the energy drink which is independent.

Water is a control because it is not tested for dependent variable and it's minimize the effect of dependent variable. This is because the energy drink give energy to run 50 yard Yash and that is the dependent variable.

They have potential to divide.
These tissues are composed of cells which have lost the power of division, having attained their definite form, size and shape.
The metabolic rate is high.
The metabolic rate is low.

Assume Kira went out to eat after the dance competition and consumed an excessive amount of carbohydrates. Which of the following would the pancreas do in order to help her body maintain homeostasis?

A. Secrete glucagon, to stimulate her liver to break down glycogen
and release more glucose into the blood
B. Secrete glucagon, to stimulate her liver to take up the glucose and store it as glycogen
C. Secrete insulin, to stimulate her liver to break down glycogen and
release more glucose into the blood
D. Secrete insulin, to stimulate her liver to take up the glucose and store it as glycogen

Answers

Answer:

D. Secrete insulin, to stimulate her liver to take up the glucose and store it as glycogen

Explanation:

Insulin and glucagon are two body hormones that help regulate the level of sugar in the blood, which is an homeostatic process. When food containing carbohydrate is ingested like Kira did after her dance competition, the body digests it into glucose (a sugar). The glucose enters into the bloodstream to be used up as energy source.

At this point, the level of sugar (glucose) in the blood increases, triggering the production of INSULIN hormone by the pancreas. The insulin hormone signals the body cells to absorb the glucose. In order to keep in check the excessive amount of sugar in the blood, some of the cells e.g. liver cells are signalled by insulin to store the excess glucose as glycogen, which will be converted back to glucose later by glucagon hormone when glucose is short in the blood.

In which biome would you most likely find plants that are adapted to survive
in hot, dry climates?
A. Rain forest
O B. Taiga
C. Desert
D. Tundra

Answers

The answer would be Desert (c) as it has the hottest climate and is most likely the dryest

One would most likely find plants that are adapted to survive in hot, dry climates in a desert biome that is in option c, as the deserts are characterized by their hot, dry conditions and low annual rainfall.

What is a desert?

Deserts are characterized by their hot, dry conditions and low annual rainfall. In order to survive in such an extreme environment, plants in the desert have evolved a variety of adaptations to help them conserve water and thrive in this harsh environment. One of the most important adaptations of desert plants is their ability to reduce water loss through transpiration. Transpiration is the process by which plants lose water through small pores on their leaves called stomata. In the desert, where water is scarce, plants have evolved a number of strategies to minimize water loss through transpiration.

As a result, plants adapted to survive in hot, dry climates are more likely to be found in option C's desert biome.

Answers

Answer:

Geologists can determine the age of an rock by studying it. However biologists study the evolution of fossils.

Explanation:

Geologists can determine the age of the Earth by studying the rocks and how long it took / takes them to form. Some similarities in their way of studying the Earth are the study of fossils. Both geologists and biologists study the evolution of fossils.

further information:

Geologists study Earth processes: Many processes such as landslides, earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions can be hazardous to people. ... Geologists conduct studies that locate rocks that contain important metals, plan the mines that produce them and the methods used to remove the metals from the rocks.

Biologists study humans, plants, animals, and the environments in which they live. They may conduct their studies--human medical research, plant research, animal research, environmental system research--at the cellular level or the ecosystem level or anywhere in between. ... Biologists generally love what they do.

in conclusion, geologists are able to tell a rocks age by studying it but biologists can only study the age of fossils

hope this helped!

Answer:

In order to determine the age of rocks, Geologist takes advantage of basically two techniques that differ in their process and accuracy, these are relative dating and absolute dating.

Put simply, if a geologist says to be younger than his or her colleague, that is a relative dating. If a geologist says to be 28 years old, that is an absolute dating.

Relative dating relies on a set of principles, formulated by geologists that can be applied on different types of rocks (sedimentary or volcanic) on the Earth's surface to determine the relative ages of geological events kept in rocks as a record of such events. Together with these principles, geologist uses the arrangement of rock layers to estimate the relative age of rocks with it. This process is called stratigraphy, and a branch of it, called sequenced stratigraphy seeks to determine the order or sequence in time in which rocks were laid in the available space –or accommodation in geologist terms-  The principles stated before are Superposition, Faunal succession, Crosscutting relationships, and Inclusions.

It is common that geologists come across gaps in the geologic record, for which they use “index fossils” to define and identify geologic periods, which helps relatively date rocks ages.

By the other hand, absolute dating puts a specific number on the age of rocks (say 25 million years sold i.e.) with the use of more precise techniques. In this case, this method provides chronologically organized estimates of the age of geological materials related to fossils. Since elements such as calcium and potassium decay in their radioactivity, this phenomenon is used by geologists as a clock to determine the age at which rocks or fossils were formed. Knowing this, geologist design procedures called radiometric dating methods to date ancient events with the use of elements radioactivity decay.
