Answer:

Explanation:

Paul Sails for Rome

27 When it was decided that we would sail for Italy, Paul and some other prisoners were handed over to a centurion named Julius, who belonged to the Imperial Regiment. 2 We boarded a ship from Adramyttium about to sail for ports along the coast of the province of Asia, and we put out to sea. Aristarchus, a Macedonian from Thessalonica, was with us.

3 The next day we landed at Sidon; and Julius, in kindness to Paul, allowed him to go to his friends so they might provide for his needs. 4 From there we put out to sea again and passed to the lee of Cyprus because the winds were against us. 5 When we had sailed across the open sea off the coast of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we landed at Myra in Lycia. 6 There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship sailing for Italy and put us on board. 7 We made slow headway for many days and had difficulty arriving off Cnidus. When the wind did not allow us to hold our course, we sailed to the lee of Crete, opposite Salmone. 8 We moved along the coast with difficulty and came to a place called Fair Havens, near the town of Lasea.

#SPJ1

Answer:

The Cold War economically affected Eastern Europe because of communist Russia’s influence. At the time, the country was called the Soviet Union or the USSR, and it had a powerful influence on the surrounding countries, mostly through military threat. Because of this, the Soviet Union was able to drag all of Eastern Europe into its economic problems, which caused the entire area to suffer. At the time of the Cold War, countries like Ukraine and Belarus were a part of the USSR. Also, countries like Germany and Poland were called “satellite states,” meaning another, more powerful region had extreme political, social, and economic influence on the states while not officially ruling them. In this case, that powerful region was the Soviet Union. This meant that anything that happened in the Soviet Union caused a ripple effect throughout Eastern Europe, and the most problematic things that had happened were in regards to the economy. The economy had already been weakened by the Great Depression, and was just beginning to recover. Then, at the start of the Cold War, trade with the U.S. and other rivals had been cut off. And to make the situation worse, not enough money or effort was going into the remaining trade relations. The Soviet Union was set on winning the Cold War, donating incredible funds to the development and construction of powerful arms and other military efforts: “Near the end of the Cold War the Soviet Union was spending around 27% of its total gross national product on the military” (ducksters.com). But this caused neglect for the failing economy, and the billions of dollars that should have been going into economic efforts went into military efforts instead. The USSR’s economy soon collapsed, which caused its conquered countries and satellite states to experience economic failure as well. It takes years to rebuild an economy, especially since many became impoverished. The entirety of Eastern Europe suffered from a lack of consumer goods, high unemployment rates, and low-quality products. And it was ultimately the USSR’s fault for their extreme engagement in the Cold War. In conclusion, the Cold War destroyed Eastern Europe’s economy through the Soviet Union, its mass military spending, and its economic neglect.
