Some people think that their pet will be healthier if they do not spay or neuter them. However, studies show that animals who are spayed and neutered avoid becoming sick with certain kinds of cancer, infection from breeding with strays, and physical stress of birthing while either too young or too old. Also, it has been shown that pets who are spayed and neutered can live 30% longer than those who have not.

Other people worry that spaying or neutering their pet will affect their personality. Male pets are affected, becoming friendlier and better behaved instead fighting other pets or spraying their territory. Female pets seem less affected, but also prove to be less territorial and better behaved.
