Language changes with time and context. What is your opinion about what constitutes good or bad usage? Is it necessary for speakers or writers to follow a standard of correctness? Do such standards vary with the audience and the situation?(will mark brainliest for whoever answers)

Answers

Answer:

Language is like a chameleon: it changes its colors according to the place where it is. What can be considered as good use is using language with certain standards in mind. Such standards do not necessarily have to do with grammatical correction; it is actually a matter of social context. Depending on where one is and whom one talks to, language will certainly have to be used differently, that is, in a particular, sometimes even peculiar way, if one's goal is to get himself or herself across.

  A certain level of grammatical correction is necessary, sometimes more, sometimes less, but it has to be there. After all, certain elementary rules must be followed so communication can be achieved. There are language conventions that cannot be taken for granted if one wants to be understood.

  A certain quality of language and usage must be maintained. That does not mean one has to talk like a scholar who is giving a lecture all the time. One should simply bear in mind the various situations of communication, the many different contexts in which individuals from all walks of life interact and talk. The rules of context correctness can be applied by always using common sense. Language effectiveness requires sensibility and empathy. Depending on the context, this or that approach must be used.

Answers

Explanation:

The sentence from your question should be:

The car I just bought needs all kinds of repairs.

In this case, if we are looking for an adjective clause, that would be ''I just bought''.

The adjective clause is describing the noun in the sentence and in this case, the noun is ''The car''.

This type of clause is considering a dependent clause and usually, this type is not changing the meaning of the sentence.

Kelvin Doe – A Young Engineer
By Dr. Sally Gonzalez, Professor, International University of Science

What do a DJ, batteries, and a teenage boy have in common? Kelvin Doe has all of these components in his life. From a small village in the Republic of Sierra Leone in West Africa, this teen changed the lives of the people in his community by his innovative approach to life.

Kelvin Gets His Start

Most teens could not imagine going to bed at 7 p.m. every night, but Kelvin would. Then, in the middle of the night, he would wake up to transform his living room. It was a “small electronics scrapyard,” as Kelvin explained. Kelvin was always very interested in technology and inventions, but he lived very poorly. His community did not have modern technology. This did not stop Kelvin. He scrounged through scrapyards and dumps looking for basic components to make his inventions work.

The Beginning of Change

There was always an important piece missing for his inventions. He needed batteries to power his homemade devices. Kelvin did not have the benefit of a science education at school. Yet, he figured out how to make a battery using soda, metal, and tape. These are ingredients he found at a neighborhood dump! With this battery, the possibilities for his inventions were endless.

Community Changes

Once he had perfected the battery, he began to think of ways to improve the lives of the people in his community. One day a week, the government electricity would turn on in the village. The villagers had electricity to power up devices and use their simple light bulb only four times a month. The rest of the month, they were in the dark. Kelvin decided to make a bigger battery. He made a generator to power the homes in the village. Now, they only have to turn on the generators to enjoy the benefits of electric power.

DJ Focus

Along with inventing, Kelvin Doe likes to listen to the latest music. His village, though, did not get dependable radio transmission. So, Kelvin melded his love of music and his interest in engineering. He built his own radio station. His teen friends work as reporters and station managers. He now goes by the moniker “DJ Focus.” “I picked this name because if you focus, you can invent anything,” explains Kelvin.

Helen Grey
By Christina Georgina Rossetti
Because one loves you, Helen Grey,
Is that a reason you should pout,
And like a March wind veer about,
And frown, and say your shrewish say?
Don't strain the cord until it snaps,
Don't split the sound heart with your wedge,
Don't cut your fingers with the edge
of your keen wit, you may, perhaps.
Because you're handsome, Helen Grey,
Is that a reason to be proud?
Your eyes are bold, your laugh is loud,
Your steps go mincing on their way;
But so you miss that modest charm
which is the surest charm of all:
Take heed, you yer may trip and fall,
And no man care to stretch his arm
Stoop from your cold height, Helen Grey,
Come down, and take a lowlier place;
Come down, to fill it now with grace;
Come down you must perforce some day:
For years cannot be kept at bay.
And fading years will make you old,
Then in their turn will men seem cold,
When you yourself are nipped and grey
How do the lines in bold help develop the main point or theme of the poem?

Eeeeeek from A Talk to Teachersby James BaldwinWhat passes for identity in America is a series of myths about ones heroic ancestors. Its astounding to me, for example, that so many people really appear to believe that the country was founded by a band of heroes who wanted to be free. That happens not to be true. What happened was that some people left Europe because they couldnt stay there any longer and had to go someplace else to make it. Thats all. They were hungry, they were poor, they were convicts. Those who were making it in England, for example, did not get on the Mayflower. Thats how the country was settled. Not by Gary Cooper. Yet we have a whole race of people, a whole republic, who believe the myths to the point where even today they select political representatives, as far as I can tell, by how closely they resemble Gary Cooper. Now this is dangerously infantile, and it shows in every level of national life. When I was living in Europe, for example, one of the worst revelations to me was the way Americans walked around Europe buying this and buying that and insulting everybodynot even out of malice, just because they didnt know any better. Well, that is the way they have always treated me. They werent cruel; they just didnt know you were alive. They didnt know you had any feelings.What I am trying to suggest here is that in the doing of all this for 100 years or more, it is the American white man who has long since lost his grip on reality. In some peculiar way, having created this myth about Negroes, and the myth about his own history, he created myths about the world so that, for example, he was astounded that some people could prefer Castro, astounded that there are people in the world who dont go into hiding when they hear the word Communism, astounded that Communism is one of the realities of the twentieth century which we will not overcome by pretending that it does not exist. The political level in this country now, on the part of people who should know better, is abysmal.The Bible says somewhere that where there is no vision the people perish. I dont think anyone can doubt that in this country today we are menacedintolerably menacedby a lack of vision.It is inconceivable that a sovereign people should continue, as we do so abjectly, to say, I cant do anything about it. Its the government. The government is the creation of the people. It is responsible to the people. And the people are responsible for it. No American has the right to allow the present government to say, when Negro children are being bombed and hosed and shot and beaten all over the Deep South, that there is nothing we can do about it. There must have been a day in this countrys life when the bombing of the children in Sunday School would have created a public uproar and endangered the life of a Governor Wallace. It happened here and there was no public uproar.The word myth is used for all of the following purposes EXCEPT toA.emphasize the false logic to which many white Americans subscribe regarding African AmericansB.serve as the foundation for his supporting evidence in this sectionC.establish ethos and show that Baldwin is an unbiased commentatorD.suggest that white Americans have a childlike desire to believe false stories over harsh realitiesE.suggest that American history is not educational because most accounts have been mythologized Part AWhat is a central idea of "The Sound of Spring?"Alexa's long-held wish to become a musician comes true in a surprising way.Alexa's and Ruby's plans for the day change unexpectedly.Despite their differences, Alexa and Ruby are loving sisters.Kaito's talent as a guitarist is a wonder to those around him.Part BWhich sentence from "The Sounds of Spring" best supports the answer to Part A?''Do you think you could show me how to play?''"Ruby allowed Alexa to follow the music to a house a half a block away.""Alexa walked over to the garage, and there stood the guitarist: Kaito Tanaka.""'It is,' Ruby replied.
