Put the following events of eukaryotic translation in chronological order:
1. Binding of mRNA and ribosome at the mRNA start codon
2. Stop codon releases the ribosome and translation stops
3. Complementary base pairing between initiator codon and anticodon of initiator tRNA
4. Peptide bond formation between amino acids
5. Release of Finished protein product

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

1, 3, 4, 2, 5

Hope it helps!

Answer 2

Proteins translation occurs in the cytosol. It involves the association of mRNA to the ribosome and to tRNA. The codons determine the amino acids sequence. The order is 1, 3, 4, 2, 5.

------------------------------

Protein synthesis involves transcription -which occurs in the nucleus-, and translation -which occurs in the cytosol-.

Once in the cytoplasm mRNA meets a free ribosome, the primary structure for protein synthesis.

Ribosomes might be floating freely in the cytoplasm or attached to the rough endoplasmic reticulum.

mRNA and ribosomes also associate with different tRNA that carries amino acids.

The ribosome recognizes the start codon in the mRNA and starts reading the strain in a 5´ to 3´ direction. According to the codons being readen, tRNA transfers the correct amino acids to build the polypeptide chain.

Each tRNA has two important sites. One of them is the antidocon that couples with the codon of the mRNA molecule. The other site couples with the coded amino acid.

The new amino acid joins the growing chain through peptidic bonds between the carboxyl and amino groups. The tRNA leaves the ribosome and sets free to join another amino acid and repeat the cycle.

The protein is synthesized from the amino terminus to the carboxy terminus, while the added amino acids to the chain are coded by a codon formed by three bases in the mRNA.

When the ribosome meets the stop codon, protein synthesis finishes. The polypeptide is released.

The correct order of steps is

1. Binding of mRNA and ribosome at the mRNA start codon

3. Complementary base pairing between initiator codon and anticodon of initiator tRNA

4. Peptide bond formation between amino acids

2. Stop codon releases the ribosome and translation stops

5. Release of Finished protein product

If a squash plant pure-breeding for white, disk shaped fruit is crossed with a plant pure breedig for yellow, sphere shaped fruit, CACULATE GENOTYPIC AND PHENOTYPIC RATIOS

Answers

Answer:

Genotypic ratio = 16 WwDd: 0

Phenotypic ratio = 16 white, disk shaped fruit : 0 yellow, sphere shaped fruit

Explanation:

This question involves two different genes coding for fruit color and fruit shape respectively. The allele for white fruit color (W) is dominant over yellow fruit color (w) and disk shaped fruit (D) is dominant over sphere-shaped fruit (d).

According to this question, If a squash plant pure-breeding for white, disk shaped fruit (WWDD) is crossed with a plant pure breeding for yellow, sphere shaped fruit (wwdd), the following gametes will be produced by each GAMETE:

WWDD - WD, WD, WD, WD

wwdd - wd, wd, wd, wd

Using these gametes in a punnet square, all of the offsprings will have genotype WwDd, which is phenotypically white and disk shaped fruit.

The genotypic ratio is 4 WwDd: 0

The phenotypic ratio is 16 white, disk shaped fruit : 0 yellow, sphere shaped fruit.

What are the functions of DNA?

Deoxyribonucleic acid is a polymer composed of two polynucleotide chains that coil around each other to form a double helix.

DNA contains the instructions needed for an organism to develop, survive and reproduce. To carry out these functions, DNA sequences must be converted into messages that can be used to produce proteins.

DNA is made of nucleotides. A nucleotide has two components: a backbone, made from the sugar deoxyribose and phosphate groups, and nitrogenous bases.

Answer:

No

Explanation:

I do not agree with this claim. Genetic Mutations are changes in the genetic sequence, and they are a main cause of diversity among organisms. In other words, it is any change in the form of DNA. A mutation can result in a beneficial, neutral, or harmful reaction. It is mostly dependent on the organisms location and the context of the organism.

This claim is not right and therefore would not agree with the claim. Genetic mutations are the changes in genetic sequence and are the main cause of diversity among organisms.

What are Genetic mutations?

Genetic mutation is an alteration in the nucleic acid sequence of the genome of an organism, a virus, or the extrachromosomal DNA molecule. Viral genomes have been found to contain either DNA or RNA as their genetic material.

Most mutations are not harmful, however some mutations can be harmful. A harmful mutation can result in a genetic disorder or even cancer in an organism. Another kind of mutation is the chromosomal mutation. Chromosomes are located in the cell nucleus, and these are the tiny thread-like structures which carry genes. Therefore, a mutation can result in a beneficial, neutral, or harmful reaction.

A pilus
B plasmid
C bacteriophage
D capsid

Answers

Capsid protects the dna of a virus

A capsid is a protein shell that protects the DNA of a virus. The correct answer is D) capsid.

What is a capsid ?

A capsid is a protein shell that encases the genetic material (either DNA or RNA) of a virus. It is a protective layer that helps the virus survive in harsh environments and protects its genetic material from damage by environmental factors such as UV light, enzymes, and other harmful substances. Capsids can be composed of one or more types of proteins and can take different shapes and sizes depending on the type of virus.

In addition to the capsid, some viruses may also have other protective structures or mechanisms that help them survive in their host environment. For example, some viruses have a lipid envelope that surrounds their capsid, which helps them enter and exit host cells more easily. Others may have other protective layers, such as a protein coat, that help them resist immune system defenses.

It is worth noting that neither A) pilus nor B) plasmid nor C) bacteriophage protects the DNA of a virus. A pilus is a hair-like structure found on the surface of some bacteria that helps them attach to other cells or surfaces, while a plasmid is a small circular piece of DNA that is separate from the bacterial chromosome and may carry genes that confer antibiotic resistance or other advantageous traits.

Hence,  Bacteriophages are viruses that infect and replicate within bacterial cells, but they do not protect the DNA of other viruses.
