Answers

Answer:

The author uses the personification in the lines “the trees no longer silver / but black fingers scratching a gray sky."

Explanation:

Perspnification is the figure of speech that gives human characteristics to animals or inanimate objects. We can see this in the poem quoted in the question above, where in lines 17-19, the poet uses personification.

In these lines, the poet states that “the trees no longer silver / but black fingers scratching a gray sky.” This shows how the poet allowed trees to have fingers, which is a human characteristic. Along these lines, the poet wants to show how a painter's perception of certain elements can change over time and the experiences he lives.

The personification technique is used by the author in the lines "the trees no longer silver / but black fingers scratching a grey sky."

Personification is a figure of speech in which inanimate objects or animals are given human traits. This is demonstrated in the poem mentioned in the question above, namely lines 17–19, where the poet employs personification.

The poet writes in these words, "The trees no longer silver / but black fingers scratching a grey sky." This demonstrates how the poet gave human traits like fingers to trees. Summarize the text, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"?

Answers

Answer:

Ichabod Crane is a newcomer to the Hudson Valley; unlike the generations of Dutch settlers that have preceded him, he has neither the strength nor the means to become a farmer and landowner. His single marketable skill is teaching, and in the isolated hamlet of Sleepy Hollow this pays meager rewards. His schoolhouse is decrepit, one large room constructed of logs; its broken windows have been patched with the leaves of old copybooks. Ichabod’s quarters are whatever rooms the neighboring Dutch farmers who board him for a week at a time are willing to provide. Ichabod thus makes the rounds of the neighborhood, and his small salary, combined with his constantly changing address, allows him to store all of his personal possessions in a cotton handkerchief.

write a letter to your son expressing your feelings

Answers

When you write a letter to your child, it can be magical. It communicates love, pride, and commitment beyond the power of everyday spoken words. It's a fun idea to make writing letters to your kids an annual event, either on their birthdays or around the holidays. To your child, it will be more than just another family tradition.

Each letter is a tangible expression of your love and pride, combined with the hopes and dreams you have for their future. They may even pick one out of a keepsake box in 20 years and be reminded of just how special they are to you.

Your letter can offer encouragement through eight simple words that every child should hear.
Of course, you want to tell your child how you feel, and "love" is probably the most important word you can use. Even if "I love you" is something you say every day, the message is conveyed differently when the words are shared in writing.

For example, you might say:

"It's hard for me to describe much I love you!"
"Being your parent has been one of the greatest gifts in my life."
"There's nothing that could ever change how I feel about you." Parents "notice" a lot about their children as they grow, but how often do you actually reflect on it and tell them about it? Share what you've noticed recently about their behavior or maturity in your letter. How has she grown? What positive characteristics do you see emerging?

For example, you might point out:

The generosity your son has for his siblings
The kindness your daughter shows her friends
The maturity you've witnessed in how your child handles conflicts. Throughout every stage of their development, there are things you "enjoy" doing with your child. In your letter, describe something special you do together right now. Knowing that you love to do something they enjoy will mean a lot. It will also help put the letter into context when they read it again in the years to come.

Think about the simple things that bring a smile to your face and theirs:

Playing games
Cooking together
Reading together. Be specific when you describe what makes you "proud." This is something we all long to hear, and the words will nourish children when they re-read the letter years from now.

For example, you might express pride in your child's:

Interpersonal relationships
Academic progress or work ethic
Athletic abilities or various talents.

who is christopher paul curtis

Answers

Answer:

The second oldest of five siblings, Christopher was born and raised in Flint, Michigan which has been used as a prominent setting in several stories including The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963 and Bucking the Sarge. Graduating from Flint Southwestern High School, Christopher immediately did two things: 1) enrolled at Flint’s University of Michigan and 2) applied for a job at Fisher Body Plant No. 1, a General Motors assembly facility. This was extremely typical for many young adults. Most blue-collar jobs, particularly in “the jungle” where Christopher worked, were often heavy-duty, hard-working tasks, requiring minimal educational skills at best. The pay and benefits couldn’t be beat, so for high school graduates that wanted a significant income right out of school, General Motors was the ticket.

Of all the various departments one could work, the "Jungle” was easily one of the worst. The Jungle was where the manufacturing process began, various sizes and shapes of metal being welded together at sequential work stations that eventually became the body frame of the automobile. With all the large welding equipment hanging from the ceiling like Amazon liana branches, as well as pneumatic, electrical and other connections running to and from all the robotic welding arms gave the area the appearance of a mechanical jungle. In addition, the scent of oil, grease and lingering smoke from the welding guns only added to the metallic ambience.

Once the car’s basic skeletal frame was established, one of the first things to get added were the doors. This was Christopher’s work station. During the 70s, Fisher Body produced three models – the Electra 225 (also known as a “deuce and a quarter”), LaSabre and Riveria. All very big and extremely heavy vehicles. Very little plastic was used; the cars were made of mostly metal. Because the doors were so big and quite heavy, the company set the job up for two men to alternate installing the doors on every other car coming down the assembly line. This went on each night for eight or more hours, about 60 cars per hour.

Christopher and his coworker decided that instead of working every other car, they would work every 30 minutes. This allowed Christopher time to do other things — besides reading novels (one of his great passions), he began writing to overcome the boredom. Some of the writings were letters; others were sketches of stories that, like his character Bud Caldwell (Bud, Not Buddy), began the colorful sojourn which led him to become one of America’s leading authors of children’s literature.

Christopher currently lives in Detroit, Michigan and in his free time still enjoys reading, playing basketball and collecting music.
