Americans get food stamps to buy food when they received assistance from FERA during FDR's New Deal. The correct option is c.

Throughout FDR's New Deal, the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA) primarily provided food assistance to Americans. In order to directly assist unemployed and underprivileged people and families during the Great Depression, FERA was founded in 1933. By offering necessities like food, clothing, and shelter the organization aimed to reduce immediate suffering.

Through soup kitchens, community centers and other relief initiatives, FERA provided food directly to those in need. The help offered by FERA went a long way toward addressing the widespread hunger and food insecurity that many Americans endured during the economic crisis. It aimed to offer people short-term relief and support while they searched for jobs and regained stability in their lives.

The Treaties of Velasco

On April 21, 1836, the forces of the Mexican army under General Santa Anna were handed a decisive defeat by the Texans at San Jacinto. Dressed as a common soldier, Santa Anna attempted to flee, but was taken prisoner the following day.

On May 14, Santa Anna signed two peace treaties with interim Texas president David G. Burnet. The public treaty consisted of ten articles; a second, secret treaty consisted of six additional articles. The secret agreement was to be carried out when the public treaty had been fulfilled.

The public treaty provided that hostilities would cease and that Santa Anna would withdraw his forces below the Rio Grande and not take up arms again against Texas. In addition, he also pledged to restore property that had been confiscated by the Mexicans. Both sides promised to exchange prisoners on an equal basis. The Texans would send Santa Anna back to Mexico and would not pursue the retreating Mexican troops.

In the secret agreement, the Texans agreed to release Santa Anna immediately in exchange for his pledge to use his influence to secure Mexican recognition of Texas independence. Santa Anna would not only withdraw all troops and not take up arms against Texas again, but would arrange for a favorable reception by the Mexican government of a Texas mission and a treaty of commerce. The Texas border would be the Rio Grande.

On May 26, General Vicente Filisola began withdrawing Mexican troops in fulfillment of the public treaty. However, the Texas army blocked Santa Anna's release by the Texas government. Moreover, the Mexican government refused to accept the treaties on the grounds that Santa Anna had signed them as a captive. Since the treaties had now been violated by both sides, they never took effect. Mexico was not to recognize Texas independence until the U.S.-Mexican War was settled by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848.

"Most of them [Southern Democrats] would probably say to us, 'Let us alone; do nothing to us, and say what you please about slavery.' But we do let them alone—have never disturbed them—so that, after all, it is what we say which dissatisfies them. ...

I am also aware they have not as yet in terms demanded the overthrow of our free-State constitutions. Yet those constitutions declare the wrong of slavery with more solemn emphasis than do all other sayings against it; and when all these other sayings shall have been silenced, the overthrow of these constitutions will be demanded, and nothing be left to resist the demand ... have Mexican citizens benefit from the increase in jobs caused by NAFTA? what are the challenges of the working for a maquiladora according to Maria?

Answers

Answer:

Since the U.S., Mexico, and Canada agreed upon the new USMCA economic treaty in early 2020, NAFTA has been in the news again. USMCA, in effect, replaces the former international trade agreement, which has transformed the economies of the three countries in the past two and a half decades.

While the pros and cons of  USMCA agreement remain to be seen, at the end of the NAFTA era, it is clear that the former free trade agreement boosted not only the global economy but Mexico’s economy in particular. To understand the effects of NAFTA on manufacturing in Mexico, it’s important to look back at its inception in 1994. NAFTA, which stands for the North American Free Trade Agreement, created the world’s largest tariff-free zone, allowing for free trade between the three countries and modernizing Mexico’s economy in the process. Section 321 de minimis is one example of how NAFTA continues to positively impact Mexico’s trade economy. This 2015 trade provision built on NAFTA’s foundation by raising the de minimis duty-free value of goods entering the U.S. from Mexico from $200 to $800.

This guide explains the ways NAFTA has elevated Mexico’s economy, giving a clearer idea of the factors that will continue to drive North America’s economic growth in 2020 and beyond.
